Readers Journal
I myself am a not a big book reader, but after i read this book i feel like i should start convincing myself to read more. This book made me laugh so hard at certain parts that sometime i just couldn't put it down. It was a very interesting book to read and i definitely enjoyed the mood that the book gives you, the atmosphere it provides and reading about the teenage live that Travis had. Despite this, i also thought the book was very misleading. The title by itself gives you a general idea of what you thought the book would be about, but then when you read the book and reach the end, you probably will be unexpectedly disappointing. Its true that there are some parts make will make your sides hurt if you know what i mean, but in the book the life of Travis is also kind of sad and unfortunate. Living your life with your mom being addicted to drugs, your grandpa addicted to smoking and getting high and your grandma having cancer is pretty depressing. But that, i think, is not even the worst part. I think the worst part is at the end of the book when Travis best friend Creature kicks the bucket, yeah that i think is pretty sad.
After i read this book, i think that i am pretty fortunate to live the life that i live right now and i think many other readers will get the same message. Heck the only thing that i would actually like in the book is getting a girlfriend like Natalie, but know me that probably won't happen. Other than i thought the book was a really good and interesting book to read. Probably because the book involves basketball and canoeing. I like this book very much and i would definitely encourage others to read it as well
